Let your voice be heard! Attend our first listening session of the summer today at 10 AM at the Maple Shelter in Brookside Park. All are welcome - hang out & tell us what you want to see, learn and do together. We want to hear your schedule preferences, class requests, & anything else that could shape our year-round programming that starts in September.

TCA staff and volunteers are busy planning new pro

TCA staff and volunteers are busy planning new programming for the next 12 months and want your ideas! All are welcome - families, adults, kids, teachers, and anyone with a passion for changing education. Come hang out at the park and tell us what you want to see, learn and do together. We want to hear about your schedule preferences, class topic requests and anything else you want to share.

RSVP is not required, but helpful for planning refreshments and materials. Feel free to drop in even if you haven't registered.

Okay, team! We need your input to help shape the next stages of TCA - something bigger than a Summer Experience and smaller than a Microschool. What do you want to see or learn or do together in nature and in community?

Start brainstorming and save the date for one or more of our upcoming listening sessions:
- morning of Friday, June 3
- evening of Tuesday, June 7
- afternoon of Saturday, June 11

The staff, volunteers and Board of Directors of The Community Academy are so grateful for your belief in our mission during the planning stages for the Microschool. We have been fortunate to form many valuable relationships throughout this process.

During our April Board meeting, TCA Directors and staff reviewed the numbers and decided not to proceed with opening a full-time Microschool in the fall of 2022.

Ultimately, we did not reach a sustainable combination of applicants and fundraising to open a financially viable model and uphold our vision. The year we spent pursuing the startup of the Microschool would not have been possible without those in our community who were willing to take a risk for a worthy cause.

Our new plans are to offer the same types of programming, but reoriented to a smaller scale - after school, weekends, and possibly during breaks. The hope is that by providing these events in a short-term, low-cost venue, we will attract even more families and supporters to the cause. This should demonstrate to a larger portion of the community both the need and desire that exists for students to engage in authentic, nature and community based educational experiences.

As The Community Academy moves forward, we welcome your input and recommendations for future programming. Updates will continue to be posted in the next few weeks to our social media channels and shared through our email list. Please let us know if you want to become further involved through fundraising, planning, or another form of support.
